ATM & Debit Card Regulations

Rules for ATM and Debit Cards

As of August 15, 2010, federal regulations will require all members to give their permission to add overdraft coverage to pay for ATM and one-time debit transactions. The credit union will not pay member overdrafts for atm withdrawals and one-time debit card purchases made at a store, online or by telephone, unless the member has agreed to overdraft coverage for these transactions. Overdrafts for other types of transactions, including checks, ACH and recurring VISA debit card transactions may still be paid by the credit union. However, overdraft coverage does not guarantee that the credit union will pay all overdrafts.

If the credit union does pay for an overdraft, the following fees will be incurred: the credit union will charge $25 for each overdraft. There is no limit on the daily fees the credit union can charge for overdrawn accounts.

If overdraft protection is not a service that you are interested in, the credit union does offer other ways to pay for overdrafts, such as linking your account to another account with us or an overdraft line of credit.
